Everett & Hurite Ophthalmic Association has created a center of excellence within the practice to address the needs of patients suffering from dry eyes, blepharitis, and meibomian gland dysfunction. It’s called the Dry Eye Wellness Center. We have the region’s most extensive and comprehensive tools to evaluate, diagnose, and treat your disease. Our concept aims to prevent progression of disease by diagnosing the issue and treating it before there is irreversible damage.
Make an appointment if you have any of the following symptoms: blurred vision, redness, burning, itching, light sensitivity, excess tearing, eye fatigue, discharge from the eyes, feels like something is in your eyes, or intolerant of contact lenses. These symptoms have many causes and it would be best to have a thorough exam. When you come for an evaluation, please do not put any medication eye drops in your eyes two hours prior to evaluation. Also, do not apply makeup on the day of your visit.
We have a number of modalities to evaluate your problem. An eye exam is always a good start. This would include checking your vision and seeing one of the doctors. There would also be a TearLab test to better evaluate the composition of your tears. We are also able to image your oil producing glands in your eyelids, and show you what your tear film looks like. Follow this link for more information on the LipiView and LipiFlow systems.
Other testing is available as well. Inflammadry and Sjo are two simple tests that help direct therapy. If there is any suspicion of Sjogrens syndrome, the Sjo test is an excellent alternative to having a biopsy.
Finally, there is treatment aimed at the root causes of the symtoms and helping to reduce the long term damage to the eye surface and components that create the tear film. Give us a call, or send us an inquiry if you have a specific question about what we can offer you.
